The site that loves greyhounds
About Us
Unlike many dog lovers, we don't think the sport of greyhound racing itself is actually cruel to the animals and we have seen first hand just how much enjoyment most of the dogs get from racing. However, we accept that there are elements of the sport which can cause harm to the greyhounds and it is these things we want to see eradicated.
We cannot deny there have been some extreme cases of cruelty and neglect which have been publicised. These cases, quite rightly, have drawn outrage from those opposed to the sport, but we who truly love the sport and the animals are as outraged as anybody else!
The truth is, despite the protestations of those opposed to the sport, most people involved in the ownership and training of racing greyhounds are true dog lovers who put the welfare of the dogs above everything else.
Unfortunately, like any sport or pastime where money is involved, there are inevitably people involved with greyhound racing
who put money first and therefore neglect the welfare of the dogs - THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!
Our Aim
We want to ensure all greyhounds bred to race are treated as well as possible and it is the welfare of the dogs we regard as most important.
We believe it is time for those people in the sport who genuinely care about the greyhounds to fight back themselves and help rid the sport of everybody who provides an easy target for those who campaign for its abolition.
We are also determined to ensure that ex-racing greyhounds are well looked after and enjoy a happy retirement and we support any measures to prosecute people who prevent this from happening.
Greyhounds make fabulous pets who, despite their size, don't actually require a great deal of exercise. We believe it is the responsibility of all owners and trainers to ensure their ex-racers are well looked after and will support any system introduced which enables us to monitor the welfare of a greyhound throughout it's life.
We have a Hall of Shame where we will add details of any proven cases of neglect in the UK of this fabulous creature and we encourage visitors to the site to Contact Us if they become aware of any cases we have not published.
We also aim to introduce people to the sport of greyhound racing, giving tips on how to read form, where to go in your area and anything else we can think of that will help you enjoy an evening at "the dogs".
